^ Take a look at all recent superbowl winners. Steelers in 06, Giants, in 07, Packers last year, none of them were the best teams, all were lower seeded, and all won the SB. The top seeds are knocked off almost every year.
You must not watch the NFL very much if you think the best teams during the regular season actually win the SB. That rarely happens. It's about who is hot when the playoffs start. The Packers are cold as ice right now. Their D is total garbage, they have no running game, and they havent done shit since Christmas. They are the perfect example of the kinds of teams that dont make it these days.
