    I've only done the dinner / dessert social party type cigar smoking.

    We would smoke cigars to enjoy before the meats & cheeses and other assorted appetizers with desserts like chocolate and cheesecakes later.

    This is the kind of thing we'd smoke before eating:


    Hoyo de Monterrey Petit Robusto

    and/or (we pass our cigars around)


    Ramon Allones Small Club Coronas

    & after dessert:


    Graycliff Château Grand Cru (it's European)

    Granted there was never a sit down time, just mingling & drinking till the food was gone.

    btw, I picked these up and this info from a place on Abbot Kinney in Venice, ca. sorry I don't remember the name.
