  An album that I caught very late in the year is Wye Oak - Civilian. Never heard of them before, and they were the Onion AV Club album of the year.

  

  The album is mesmerizing. I've not played live in a band in a couple years and of anything I listened to this year that made me want to be doing guitar-based music again, this was it.
