I think I know exactly what I'm talking about. I've been skating for 21 years straight and still am. so don't even talk if you are an "on and off skater" as you claim. that alone tells me you ain't a real skater.

but to answer your points I agree skaters are not "kids" in the litera sense. but you don't normally START skating in your 20's you start when you're a kid (and skate forever or until you fuck up some body parts). besides fuck skate parks too. too many groms and why should I pay to skate? skating a ledge is more creative. than being boxed into some sanctioned area 90% of which are built by city planners with no idea how to make a good skate area.

from my experience the type of kids that get into skating are the ones who aren't into organized school sports. it's a "sport" they can get into and progress or have fun with at their own pace without parents meddling or setting up rules or subtle pressures to go pro and make a living off it. in fact parents don't usuall.y want their kids to become pro skaters. all the better IMO.

very few pro skaters make a decent living off skateboarding so the general feeling I interpret is that skaters skate because it's fun. which is why IMO skateboarding is special.

so because nike this time around, tried to buy their way into the scene by mimicking chocolate graphics still means they are suckers (and that you are a sucker for claiming nike is legit because of this). also, just cause they had the money to buy out some pros doesn't mean shit either. what person would turn down a shit load of cash?

skate teams are more or less loosely organized homies. they don't have rules or coaches they just get together and tour. skate contests have grown more and more pointless over the years and they don't mean shit to consumers.

nike tried to enter the market in the early 90's and failed because they aren't of skater ilk. take that sweatshop page on their fucking site. it shows you ritght there how out of touch their marketing is. but it's sure to attract numbskulls who think skater run around yelling "dude" and "skate or die"

nike has good sports marketing but skateboardintg is so much more than a sport. I hope they fail miserably.
