Look at illustration, that's where anyone with actual picture-making ability is. A lot of illustrators make fine art too, since illustration isn't much of an industry these days, sadly.
How can you argue with James Jean? Kent Williams? Malcolm Liepke? Dan Adel? Those are just a few super talented, hard working cross-over dudes off the top of my head.If you think the art world sucks, you're not looking hard enough.
