    $10/hr minimum. Minimum wage is unacceptable and unrealistic wage to live on.

    I live in MI. I was able to squeeze at least that out of both of my internships (double for the last). Supplying fringe benefits like lunch/drinks helps.

    You've got UofM right there for you to feed off of. Contact a head of the design department and see if they have anyone who they might recommend.

    There's also Wayne State and College for Creative Studies in Detroit. Although I would be loathe to commute from/around Detroit to Ann Arbor for anything less than $10/hr.
