I have a couple of different workflows.

A few tracks on there started as beats I had on the MPC, then dumped into Cubase and arranged with the vocals he provided.

Others, I layed the vocals down after timestretching them to a proper BPM, then built a beat around em in FL Studio.

I always end up in Cubase for the mixing process though. Seems to sound better when bouncing stems of all the tracks, then combining them there.

I've got various outboard pieces that I like to incorporate to give it a fuller sound rather than having everything come from the computer.

Everything gets mixed out through this FATSO compressor on the 2 bus for a final polish.

    • cool, thanks. i wanna try derping around with this kinda stuff myself but wasn't sure how to get startedscarabin
    • If I were just getting started today I'd probably learn ableton live.sublocked
    • You need cubase familiarity though - it's totally the Photoshop of sound editing/mixing down. Essential.mikotondria3
