it's going to be difficult showing a waveform representation, other than the basic explanation of additive synthesis? ie. a sinewave represents a single frequency, noise representing all... the real problem is that rolling off frequencies over 16k wont really make much change to something easily recognizable as a audio waveform, maybe on a single oscillation - i've got a graphic somewhere to represent a smooth transition between noise and sine (to go round a rotary encoder knob for a LFO) , i'll hoke it out...
