Agree with Continuity. Although I think having a LinkedIn profile with actual recommendations is a must-have. You can't really make that shit up yourself -- makes you more credible.
Have a website for your portfolio, and a LinkedIn Profile with rec's, along with a link to your PDF resume within your LinkedIn Profile. You may also want to have a simple text-based version of your resume for those large corporate companies who use those resume scanner thingamajigs.
