So whats the real difference between these protesters and Tea Party protesters aside from political philosophy? If anything these protesting citizens illustrate just how well financed and professionally organized the Tea Party movement actually is.

Within a very short two year time period, the Tea Party was able to organize nationwide with the Tea Party Express bus tour and corresponding events. They consistently secured permits to protest across the country, hence the lack of law enforcement intervention and mass arrests. They had excessive media and political support, to the point that they changed the face of Congress with it's recently elected Tea Party freshmen congressman.

But what initially did the people that marched at these events actually have in common? Many still claim that it's supporters are non-partisan, conservative, or disaffected blue dog democrats. They didn't really have any solid singular message. Some complained about over regulation, or over taxation, or big government, some even brought firearms to express their constitutional right to bear arms.

I've read that there are some Tea Party protesters involved in this as well. But it is interesting to see the distinction between the different avenues of support for the Tea Party and this current large organized gathering.

    • Very good point. It's because they are well-organized and peaceful and don't look as if they are going to destroy.

    • I would say a purposeful, visible display of firearms is a potentially threatening situation. You don't think law enforcement had any concerns with that display of rights?IRNlun6

    • I'm sure that they do, on a certain level, but again, it's their right.

    • then again, it just could be cultural / lifestyle. gun permit, hunting people. Which, I AM NOT.

    • but back to your original point, I don't see much of a difference between the two groups on many levels.
