this has been done with a painting. i can't remember for the life of me where i saw it, but it was fascinating. from what i remember, each participating artist was given a couple peices of others work, but only a few inches of it that would connect to one or two of the four corners of his painting. then a portion of his work would be given to another participant and so on. it worked something like that, but the result was amazing!
