Viking, no one wants to shut anyone up. Look at CNN giving the forum to the Tea Party even though they are only supported by 20% of the country.
As as far your story goes, I'm glad it turned out OK for your family. But how does a hospital (in this case, not in most of them) wiping someone's debt free equate to personal responsibility? Surely the "personal responsibility" thing would have been to make the person pay the entire bill. And what bearing does a fluke situation like that have on any kind of public policy?
