To answer the question asked - you work with the design shop. You don't need to narc them out. Sounds like they are trying to make it right, and will likely lose some money doing it.
Maybe you can get a relationship going with them for more work.
And if I was the client and you contacted me out of the blue like that, I would think you are equal to an ambulance chaser.
