went to native foods in culver city and had a vegetarian deli rueben and pozole soup. i knew this type of soup was traditional but didn't know much about it apart from it being made of alkali-treated corn, so i looked it up while waiting and learned this:
"According to research by the National Institute of Anthropology and History and the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (...) the meat used in the pozole was human.[4] After the prisoners were killed by having their hearts torn out in a ritual sacrifice, the rest of the body was chopped and cooked with corn. The meal was shared among the whole community as an act of religious communion. After the conquest, when cannibalism was banned, pork became the staple meat as it "tasted very similar", according to a Spanish priest.[4]"
- that's how you fucking do it brah!********
- in Papua New Guinea, people are known as "Long Pig", because of the similarity. Also the basis for the religious bans.mikotondria3
