Drinking alone is fine - I used to have an awkward walking commute of 2 hrs and would stop in a pub and have 1, maybe 2 beers. At home I'll drink 1 maybe 2 beers in the evening, sometimes alone. It's just nice to drink beer or wine or a nice scotch, frees the mind, relaxes the body, allows a short time away from the measured rigor of the body clock and the march of industry and domesticity. To be avoided though, is the onset of drunkenness when alone. When with friends, this bend in the road is passed with glee, alone it finds one desiring company and finding none can easily and unpredictably turn to melancholy.
