The HDD name prevents confusion if the shared folders happen to have the same name. As people have said, use an alias (or symbolic link if you do command line stuff). However if the folder is not mounted then the links will point to nothing which might cause confusion (or in the worst case, seemingly missing files). Why does this matter? What are you trying to achieve?
