I'd go with 2 card readers and possibly an extra laptop.
Or don't copy over any cards.
wandering around with one set of captures is really risky incase of emergency/rain. theft etc.
I normally keep most of the gear split in two different areas.Some people also keep an emergency system boxed up ready to be fedex'd or sherpa'd ;] from wherever their main hub was.
