I like it. Not necessarily the form, but the effort and the result. Even the possibility - would be great if this is how the future market would look like, where you add your design onto an existing base (a bit like wordpress, perhaps). Provided you're qualified to do so, of course. Or have the $ to hire someone to custom design it for you.
Concern for his safety in a crash? I'd figure the frame built and many other factors have a for more bigger say than what chassis does.
The grill is fugly, but then again that's in the eye of the beholder. Or should I say re-moulder.
