It's a convenient fiction that riots like London, Vancouver and Toronto – the ones that aren't obviously motivated by state violence or desire for democratic reform (the Arab Spring, ongoing) – are completely baseless and spring from nowhere. But they aren't. You can't leave a generation to fend for itself and show it an endless parade celebrities/the rich/politicians committing crimes without punishment and then complain when their lack of communities values and respect for rights bubbles to the surface in the form of violence and vandalism and looting.

    • initially they blamed the vancouver riot on a small, known group of no good troublemakers...prophetone
    • as it unfolded though it became clear it was mostly a bunch of idiots and spoiled brats...prophetone
    • and opportunistsprophetone
