i have a samsung f3, wd caviar black 32 & 64mb caches. samsung benchmarks better and is cheaper, however really i cant tell too much difference on the drives. and both wd and samsung has been good to me.
i agree with detritus on the ssd. i went with a small ssd and split my profile and happy i did it. the performance is really noticeable and drive was like a $130 crucial c300.
