The Magic Trackpad is just like a larger version of what is on the MacBooks.
The Intuos line of Wacom tablets have a dial (older one's have a strip) which can allow you to zoom in and out quickly. There are two Bamboo models that integrate touch into the tablet area (in addition to pen use), but they're no where near as advanced as what Apple has on the trackpads (I think they only allow up to 2 points of contact, and aren't suitable for gestures).
The Intuos is definitely the better tablet, being aimed at professionals. Far more degrees of sensitivity. But if you're just beginning with and want to kick the Wacom tires so to speak, the Bamboo might be good enough.
