    You might already know this but it's something I learned the hard way a bunch of times...

    Take the time to do the following if you can:
    Clean the heck out of the bike BEFORE you start tearing it down
    Take pics of every step of tear-down
    Try not to 'cut' any of the wiring off (most expensive to replace)
    Get your fuel tank completely clean and free of rust and laquer
    Get your carb rebuilt (or do it yourself) as soon as possible

    Talk to your bike when you get it home, explain your intentions, it will understand...
    Find old-timers to help you out!
