Some people are talented
Some people listen well
There aren't that many talented people who listen well, many talented people are already thinking of "their" idea before you even finish discussing "the idea"...
So I'd ask about how they'd taken direction from previous AD's before, describe a few projects from start to finish in a few sentances, try to figure out if they're egotists who don't listen....
