Passed my test in 1987 and inherited one of these from my mom...

It was that spec, and that colour. I've driven so many cars since then that I've lost count. I couldn't tell you what the license number is of any car I've ever driven, including the sensible family car we have right now (I also have a resto van and I know that license plate) but I still know the license plate for my first car... MDA38X.

It was a 1.0litre engine on a 4 speed box, and I could get it up to 90 mph if I really really wanted to. It was written off at a junction when a girl waiting to turn right set off to quickly, hit my rear corner and sent me broadsiding into a kerb and then rolling over twice. Car was crushed like bacofoil, I walked out without a scratch.

    I loved that car.
