But as far as "when it's kerned enough" and other aesthetic considerations, experience is your best help. That and drawing type. Drawing type will improve your perception of space, both positive and negative; enhance your ability to analyze and refine curves; and it will certainly help you kern better. In general, drawing anything helps you see, *really* see the world around you.
