how many people really use the benefits being paid for? me plus employer probably pays about 3600 dollars for insurance and i use maybe 600. Of course by paying in the 30% being like 90 bucks a month i get some detrimental coverage vs paying liek maybe what 150 or less for detrimental health insurance. Of course if i was to opt out i wouldn't see the money paid by the employer in my paycheck. The problem with health insurance is over insurance. And the idea that employers must pool large groups, making it easy to push numbers up with speculation. I think it would be better if employers didnt offer insurance and it was treated more like car insurance. Sure maybe less than 10% get fucked by pre-existing conditions but far better than 90% getting fucked trying to hedge the 10%.
And i dont know the full government rules and regs but im guessing a lot of profit really comes from the capital needed to cover a large percentage of people all going extremely ill at once. thinkign that money put into investments and stuff generates plenty of cash. Much like HOAs but on a larger more complicated scale.
But people are lazy and probably like the employer to choose there healthcare stuff. Rather than wanting the money and doing the research to find what fits you best. So probably wont ever change unless tax incentives are taken away, and measures taken to remove other incetives promoting companies to provide healthcare.
and of course there is the whole medical business. hospitals vs specific technique clinics. lot of different politics involved and rules regs with those. lobbying and such. incentives on those all inclusive vs small. the problem with the hospitals promoting prestige vs cost effective measures. the latest tech that is far more expensive and yet does the same as the previous. i do work for a hosptial and the marketing budget is so insane, and people runnign it jsut is ridiculous. Not too mention the hospital just open a giant expensive zen garden for outpatients to visit and feel better, and do the whole high class valet parking and everything.
the whole risk/reward system with economics is fucked up. hospitals benefit more by charging more. insurance benefits more by charging more. when a birth costs like 5k but an insurance pays 15k of course the hospital is going to promote insurance users. its so fucked up. and i cant see people changing their mentality on it at all. theyre so single track with thinking i pay this insurance amount i should get everything and stuck on that single point.
- and i think a lot of fundamentals of insurance hikes can be seen in higher edu. just bad policy creating self eating markets********
- and you cant risk rewards in changing policy always leans towards making the situation worse with todays voters********
- and then agian avergae health insurance i use is less than 600. think ived used about 2k in the last 8 years...********
