Boz, we all know that no one uses WYSIWYG view in DW anymore.

The code editor is alright on it but it's not even close to other much cheaper software. I suppose it's decent if you don't want to/can't learn how to use a real text editor with rich scripting support like Textmate/e-text editor/Vi/emacs.

But for people who want a more powerful and SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper workflow, they can get 90% of what you just listed in other editors coupled with open source software (e.g Jekyll for static site templates) and a decent FTP client.

As for point 8, Textmate can validate my HTML at a touch of a key, it pretty much pioneered webkit live preview, also I don't need to emulate multiple browsers because at a touch of a key it can refresh Safari, Firefox, Chrome, IE8 and IE7 all at the same time (The last 2 running inside virtual machines), much better than some static shots sent back from Adobe HQ.

    • being able to do the same thing and being cheaper does not make them better. Yes, it's cheaper, yes the newer versions of other editors come close to some of these capabilities but the way they work and how Dreamweaver also integrates with other things is nowhere close. I would say it's the same argument you would make against Windows vs Macs.. can you do same software on a Mac as you would on PC? Sure, but it's the way you use Mac is something that will make you never use Windows again right? So this is the same thing...Boz
