I don't think it's asking too much to see the photos. Not so much to quell any lingering conspiracy theories, but rather to provide closure to those that this is important to.

I will say that it's a bit odd that they wouldn't be released at least for the sake of historical texts and the like. There are plenty of documentaries and books that contian graphic photos of the death of Mussolini, for example. Is Osama an exception here?

Finally, Obama's official stance on not releasing the photos was to not 'gloat'. I think there are tactfull ways of doing everything, including showing photos of a dead dictator.

I do wonder though, did they go in unhinged, full of adrenaline and just unload clips in his face? I know I'd be apprehensive about releasing the photos if that were the case..

    • and by dictator i of course meant terrorist..SteveJobs
    • It's possible that they are waiting until the hype dies down to release the photos.nb
    • Even if they release real pictures those who wish not believe will claim them fakes.wagshaft
    • what if they are demonstrated to be faked with proper image analysis? Others will still be claiming they're real because they believe everything the gov. tells themDodecahedron
    • I've seen proof several of the alqueda video statements were faked and yet Bush was talking about them in speeches as justification for more warDodecahedron
    • ...justification for more war.Dodecahedron
