Depends on what they want to do. If they already design (know illustrator or Freehand) I'd get a good actionscript book (moock) and stay a couple chapters ahead of them.

Good way to do it is take each topic and make a couple questions (topic Object Oriented Coding = What's Object Oriented Coding)... Then after teaching them a couple of topics, review with the questions...
You can even hide the book and they'll think yer some kind of genious...
