I'm wanting to have a shot at remixing a certain old track. I've tried getting my head around Ableton with little success. Is there a better program to remix songs?
- The answer is, there is no "ultimate remixing software" without trying to offend you, the reason why some remixes are successful is because the person behind it is talented and has been building his craft for years and lots of practice. The software is just a tool used to bring those ideas together.
Will I need to get the MIDI file to do this?
- Again, without the intention to offend, there are AMAZING remixes out there that are 100% illegal, meaning done without permission of the original artist, so while it's always better to have an acapella track with dry vocals, an instrumental track in uncompressed audio format, and the drum breaks separated in to individual samples and all of these wrapped up together on a nice fw drive with a bow on top, sitting next to a delicious glass of 100% pure chocolate milk, it's not really necessary to make a good sounding remix. In fact, people will appreciate it more if it sounds great and it was made from an authorized song. Look at pogo, he started doing unauthorized remixes from movie clips and now pixar and disney fill his pockets with money to come up with stuff.
