I doubt qbn.com makes much money anymore, they have in the past from some of the advertising but I haven't seen any new ads besides the krop one in months. Remember the cs5 ad banners in the threads? As said MT probably donates server stuff because of their connection to vantageous and krop but it gets confusing when you see the "portfolio hosting by QBN" at top right but its really just a link to krop. I think QBN is just the generic umbrella company while krop is the only one with any revenue and MT is involved because of the ad network, they keep qbn.com going because of the user base and potential customers of krop. But wtf do I know I'm just blabbing.
