We have similar issues at work. Sometimes the fileserver can be super slow. Taking up to a minute just to open one directory. I connect through smb and afp on this particular server is much worse. Our techs put ExtremeZ-IP Print Support on the server to alleviate some issues but I don't really see what that does.
