You can also use the Google keyword tool:

Enter a search term and it will show you how many searches are actually made for it each month and also similar search terms. So instead of "(my town) wedding photographer" you might realize it makes sense to target a slightly different search term, or target multiple terms. Either way it's good to know what people are actually searching for.
