    i think that for the particular example that atkinson posted, the 'film vs. digital' debate doesn't really matter, as the shot is not one in which the idiosyncrasies of one or the other really make the photo. both sides can claim cases where one is better than the other, of course.

    in defense of film, i am posting some photos by paolo roversi, who uses, i believe, a deardorff 8x10 large-format film camera. the characteristics of the film and large-format optics, and the tilt/swing capabilities of the traditional large-format camera, i believe, really make the photos here - these would be difficult or impossible to do with digital.
