I bought an iPad (1) at the weekend.
I bought for one reason alone - to use the app TouchOSC (Via MidiYoke & PureData) to act as a controller for Ableton Live. The TouchOSC Template Editor allows me to design my own touchscreen midi controllers. Draw/drag/drop sliders/knobs/buttons/LEDs etc on as many pages as I want.
This app alone is why the iPad doesn't suck if you have an actual use in mind.
I can now sell all the Midi Controller Hardware I have which will more than cover the cost of the iPad (possibly twice over!).
And if i'm playing gigs now, I dont have to take all that equipment, just my iPad and Laptop.
