  Lighting...

  Try bouncing some light from the opposite direction of your main light source... and it looks like you using a flash at some point - will flatten any image if used direct on like that (look at her pupils). Try an indirect, diffused approach...

  Conveying emotion...

  Depressed? She looks like something just did flip flops in her tummy. =] You need to add some context to the image in order to help sell the "message"...

  • I'm pretty much restricted to using natural light, so I guess you mean something like a reflector? I didn't actually use flash in any of these but I understand what you're saying.huw_cy
