I'm seriously considering building one for video editing. I don't do a ton of work but I'm working with a Macbook Pro right now and running everything off of external USB drives is slow and painful. I'd love a Mac Pro, but I can't justify the cost. It seems more economical to build a hackintosh and constantly upgrade SSDs, RAM, processor, rather than dropping $4000+ on a new Mac Pro every few years.

    • mine's still running strong. no real issues. never messed with the sleep thing...johnny_wobble
    • Migrate your work to firewire 800 drives.. you will be amazedThelonious_Funk
    • As good as internal SSDs?nb
    • I also like the idea of upgrading to Thunderbolt as it becomes more available.nb
    • Hmmm.... MBP+ThunderboltSSD vs. Hackintosh+SSD. Hmmm.nb
    • yeah usb is slow as hell. firewire 800. well, SSD is the fastest but also very pricy.akrok
