    Assuming a straight upward trajectory, the bullet's speed will reach 0 at the apex, and then will only have gravity to accelerate it downward until it reaches it's terminal velocity at which point it stops accelerating, and that speed is considerably less than when it's fired from a gun. It'd still hurt to get hit.

    Now, once the trajectory becomes more horizontal, then things get a bit deadlier cause you still have that horizontal momentum because the bullet never stops moving forward.
