@genfour..
its not the price of the product that designates its function. and to just state, your reply, suggests only cases, specific to a certain purpose. even though its material is constructed in nylon, you state that its lasted its fair share of what abuse you have taken it thru, in the outdoors, the wilderness etc..
the point is, you purchased what seems to be a product designed for that intended environment and function.
what Peter is stating, and i agree to a point, is that the majority of nylon bags designed for the electronic industry are made for that purpose, but to replace the functionality of that industries product with another, just to save a few dollars, will not yield the same results that your outdoor bags have given you.
the fact that you mention nylons for tents, packs for extended backpacking, and other products for a specific purpose, why not use that same argument and purchase an equal product for your laptop??
also the denier of the outdoor nylon is much heavier than anything you will find for urban laptop storage and will not give you the same results.
remember the price is only a demographic to a point, as the cost of said items will determine the functionality. i can imagine the heavy nylon paacks you are describing with little to no interior functionality towards the electronic storage industry.. in the end.. purchase the right pack for your needs, for the intended purpose, the function over the fashion.. remember that protection should come first, since you use that ideal for your outdoor lifestyle, perhaps invoking that to your electronic lifestyle as well...
