Peter, again I appreciate your response. I think you may have a huge misconception on nylon and it's capabilities. I personally have been using and relying on it for everything. all of my packs are made out of it. the packs I use for backpacking long distances in the wilderness are made out of it, my tent (that I live out of 3-4 months out of the year) is made out of it and comfortably withstands heavy winds, rain, and snow. I have a smaller $40 petzl pack that I've been using on rock climbs that is made of a thicker nylon that has survived joshua tree sandstone and being sandwiched all the way up granite chimneys in yosemite valley. I would use it to hold the macbook if it would only fit into it. I have a heavy duty haul bag that you can put 60-80 lbs of gear/food/water/supply in and you literally drag it up the side of rock faces below you as you climb up 500'-5,000' multi day climbs. that one is a canvas/nylon mixture and I only paid around $200 for it.
I've actually depended on nylon to save, stow, &shelter certain aspects of my life. A lot of people on here recommending $200+ de signer bags probably couldn't say the same about the materials it is made out of. I apologize if I sound really condescending here but I just want to give you some background on why I'm at a $50 price point. And to be more clear I'll probably use my proform discount to get a $80-120 bag at half price.
and do you know what's funny? my gf will balk at me for spending $50 and insist that a $5 used leather bag from goodwill and some leftover mattress foam would've done the trick ;)
- You're comparing it to tents now? Why don't I say the plastic of caravans are better for movable houses?Peter
- That camera bag thing was off too. You carry lenses, and much more with a bag, or (sigh) backpack. But go ahead... lug it which way you want it. You've already convinced yourself.Peter
- any which way you want it. You've already convinced yourself that a 50$ piece of cloth for a 2k$ equipment is all rightPeter
- Like wearing sneakers with a 2K$ suit, perhaps.Peter
