if you dont mind spending an extra 20-25 dollars, you can get a very well made, well protected, non flashy, and comfortable and functional case that will in the end suit all your needs. the 50 dollar price point case.. well you are looking at a case that is most likely designed at a very low cost, and only sold at that price point to make a profit.
Peter makes a very strong argument. in his defense by all means, he is advising you to purchase with the thought that your purchase will last longer and be an investment. a leather case can last forever, and can forever be stylish in any time period. but the cost behind its origins gets retails up there.. not saying you cant get a leather case for your price point, just saying its function may not suit your needs..
for the nylon world of bags, you generally want something fitted for the function of your needs. generally the price points of $69+ is where you see real function being designed around the interiors.
you just need to add some funds to your budget and start to look for something that will benefit your necessity to conceal your personals.
i personally love army/ military style cases. i have been using the same Helmet style bag for over 22 years. it has no logos, and is all nylon.. it has no shoulder strap.. it serves all my needs.
you should check out the army/ navy surplus stores.. you may find a styling that can last lifetimes.. and is timeless in its style and is something that doesnt scream "laptop here" and can be form fitted to serve as a laptop carrying case. - or not..

they have black denim interiors, its something you never see anywhere but perhaps in boutiques in japan.. also the cases are very sleek and function heavy and made for laptops..
in the end there are so many choices, and you alone have to decidde what is your identity and then go after what you want that follows your personal look.. or just go for the "black bag" its the #1 selling colour!!
