Glad you asked. File names that have some consistent basis in reality. Other people not intimate with the project may find it easier to understand (like your printer). If it's a cover include the word cover in amongst date, docket, revisions,etc. Call it a cover when discussing and requesting quotes not magenta bob. And if the file is 11" x 17" + bleed make an 11" x 17" document with bleed not an 8" x 10" artboard with drawn crops! Include words like final, to print or low res proof. Of course dates, revisions and dockets are also essential.
