offer to do an update of their brand, but as you're short on time and energy don't worry about the concept etc, just redraw the logo as an eps and make sure it is legible at all sizes, b&w etc.
won't be one for the portfolio, but should be fairly quick and easy, and will probably be a billion times better than what they have. don't suffer over it.
don't do jobs for friends in future. plead exhaustion.
