I'm not entirely sure why you would want to leave Amsterdam to go work in Canada, to be honest with you.
For one thing, the salaries are much lower - dollar-for-Euro - in Canada than they are in NL. For another, you're in for a massive shock, vis-à-vis labour laws in Canada; they're much more in favour of the employer to the point of being draconian. Thirdly, if you're thinking you're going to do global brand work here, you're in for a shock. There are only a handful of agencies in Canada who do any sort of stuff for global brands, and they're mostly in Toronto. They're usual suspects: McCann, Leo Burnett, Ogilvy, etc, and it's often straight adaptations of stuff from the US market. For the rest, it's local or national brands no-one outside of Canada has heard of.
I've lived in A'dam and am from Canada, and I would commit unspeakable acts of violence go back and settle in NL, all things considered.
But hey, if you're Hell-bent on it, good luck to you.
- Hmm, thanks, I havnt really thought of living in Canada before, but a pretty good agency might want me to move there.Deks
