The laws regarding this is different from country to country. As long as they are in a public space and you shot it from the pit, I don´t think there will be any problem using it without a model release. I assume they were aware that the picture was taken?
Tracking them down to ask for usage will probably be extremely time consuming, but then you will be safe. I say go for it.
