I know that my grandma refuses to 'interface' with any technology that has been created in the last decade other than the dish network guide. She has a cell phone but the only thing she knows how to do is make a call and receive them though it. She wont check voicemail or text and refuses to learn how.
At the grocery store she wont use the self-checkout with the touch interface. She doesn't "trust" it. She waits in line for the clerk.
I took her to the bank recently that had a new ATM with a touch interface installed. She wanted money from the ATM but chose to go and see a teller instead because the machine "didn't have any buttons".
- yep, every older person i know is like this towards technology too. you're really designing for whomever uses the tech for them.doesnotexist
