the thing is though, an fdf is really just a text file and can be edited by the client. maybe have this done in a way that the client has a directory on their site with a pdf. they create an fdf with a local version of the pdf and upload the fdf with a simple uploader to the same directory as the secured pdf online -- send the client a link to that fdf which opens the pdf in a browser. they can't modify the fdf or the pdf in that case (on a server) and they can print the pdf from the browser. haven't tried this just thinking out loud....
