I'd wager that depending on which state you're in, they could make it uncomfortable for her in charges that she'd have to fight (but could get dismissed) like conspiracy if they ever got the cops trying to bust them at the house. I doubt she'll get in trouble, but having drugs in California is a lot different than having drugs in a place like Oklahoma for instance. I had a friend get ARRESTED in Oklahoma for less than a dime bag after getting pulled over and having his car searched (searched on a hunch actually he wasn't drunk or high). That would never happen in California -- it's too much paperwork, total pain in the ass for the cops for nothing.

But if her sons aren't in school and have figured out a way to make money for themselves, it seems like they should be pedaling their wares out of their own apartment, eh? I know plenty of people who moved out of their parents house at 17/18 so they can live life how they want. Hopefully your family friend enforces some rules and get them to grow up one way or another. If anything, those kids will bring unsavory people into her house that would be willing to scope out the things she cares about and steal, break, or ruin it. If her sons show no respect to their home and their mother, you can't expect their friends and/or associates to either.

That being said, I know plenty of friends that currently deal weed and I don't think it's the worst thing a person could do. But they're all pretty grown up now, have a few other streams of legit revenue, keep their risk pretty low, and they're not bring their parents into it. Those boys should go to California and become legal growers or sellers if they're really serious about doing this for a living and think it's so cool. There's plenty of people who have made millions doing it legit and out in the open -- it really can be an honest living. At the very minimum they could work as a sales person at a Cali dispensary/pharmacy. You don't have to be very smart to do that. I think you just can't have a crazy criminal history.
