Funeral explored themes of death and leaving your childhood behind, and The Suburbs was a revisiting of those neighbourhoods, after growing up a little bit. If you liked Funeral I don't know how you couldn't like The Suburbs.
AF are a band that build on themes. And the themes explored on Suburbs were actually relevant. Rebuilding your life after the market crash... apathy of the modern man... idiocy of hipster kids... a dying planet... computers that can think for themselves... dead neighbourhoods, instant techno life, and a need to shut it all off. This album actually had some relevance to it. On top of that it married those themes to catchy tunes, and layered production... it deserved to win.
Also if you haven't been to their live show, I really suggest checking them out. They build some of the most triumphant crowd crescendos Iv'e ever been apart of, and their melodies stay with you long after they leave the stage.
