hey trooper this happened to me this past week, they even said they are going to interview at least 25 more applicants, and that if i dont hear from them its not that they didnt feel i am suitable for the gig, they want to see a broad range of designers.. they said i was already the 9th person they interviewed but was the #1 choice for placement..the next day they called me and i missed the call, the following day they called me 3 times and i missed all 3 of those calls.. [phone was on silent] when i found out, apparently they didnt go interview the other 25, and wanted me to come in to meet the head partners and the directors of design.
in the end, its better for you, and they may say this or that, but they may also call you the next day too.. i learnt from this.. as i wasnt expecting a call back from them after 1 day since they said 2 weeks..
also after reading the comments here from others, i am not sure they get it, it sound they give it tit for tat.. but you can still land that gig as they felt you are the #1 for it.. the other people they meet may be for jr positions of people you can manage.. think of it that way. if you walk in the realm of negativity then you get what you get. but if you understand it positively then you may earn all that is waiting for you. best of luck on that gig!
